✦ Synopsis
Abstract
This paper studies the influence of the close proximity between the human head and various planar inverted‐F antennas (PIFAs) used for portable handsets. The effects of the head on the antenna characteristics are investigated. The results for three selected antenna shapes are illustrated. The simulations are done using an HFSS head phantom with a PIFA in the same radiation box. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
