## Abstract The cationic polymerization of isobutylene with weak Lewis acids, such as BBr~3~ and FeBr~3~, has been studied. These halides are unable to induce individually the polymerization in nonpolar solvents, such as heptane or toluene, or they only initiate the polymerization to low conversion
