Abstract
Using annular lenses in scanning acoustic microscopy, the attenuation coefficients for several materials were determined from the calculated V(z) interference‐free curves. The dependence of such coefficients on Rayleigh velocities as well as on operating frequencies was then investigated to establish empirical relations between these parameters.
