✦ Synopsis
Energy transfer from poly-(m-phenylene-isophthalamide) to 2-(2'-methoxy-5'-tertbutylphenyl)-benzotriazol-carbonic-acid-anilide-(5) (acceptor) had been investigated by measuring the phosphorescence polarization of the acceptor in solid polyamide films. The form of the excitation spectrum of the acceptor indicates strong depolarization due to sensitized phosphorescence when excited near 300 nm. Polarization of non-sensitized phosphorescence and of the partially sensitized phosphorescence permits calculation of the proportion of sensitized phosphorescence, in qualitative agreement with the results of intensity measurements.
