In this paper two models, one structured and the other unstructured, for the simple batch fermentation process, based on the kinetic scheme SfR hc2R. 42 are compared quantitatively and qualitatively. One model assumes that the volume of the cells in the fermentation process is approximately constant
## Abstract A semiβtechnical method of preparing crystalline levulinic acid by a process commencing with the hydrolysis of starch in 100 lb. batches is described. Details are also given of large all glass apparatus for evaporating solutions of crude levulinic acid without appreciable carbonization.
