โฆ Synopsis
I have the honor to introduce to the readers of the Journal of Microscopy Research and Technique the first Topical issue addressing recent advances in Microscopic Research of Silver Halides and Related Dispersed Systems. As unique detectors of light quanta, X-rays, and particle beams (electrons, protons, etc.), AgX microcrystals (XฯญCl, Br, I) are currently utilized as key elements in a large number of photographic materials (black-and-white and color films and papers, diagnostic X-ray films, microfilms, and printing films). This range of wide applications involves various kinds of imaging technologies. During more than 150 years, great efforts have been made by generations of scientists and engineers in order to improve all stages of the photographic process: the overall chemical sensitivity,
