graphs are of good quality although by compressing too many on to a page some do not adequately portray the features they are supposed to illustrate. As an example, the photographs of duroclarite and clarodurite in Figure and, do not clearly show the maceral proportions which characterize these two microlithotypes.

The volume is bound between stout linen covers but at &24 is still fairly expensive by British standards and may be beyond the means of the average student.
