A rigid linear array of beads in a Newtonian fluid is used to model a rod-like macromolecule in a dilute solution. Following the work of Kotaka, an expression is obtained relating the intrinsic viscosity to the velocity gradient. Computed results are compared with the experimental results of Str6mberg.
