✦ Synopsis
A small group of patients with Stage I and IT ductal breast carcinomas were treated with intravenous nitrogen mustard the day of mastectomy and the first two postoperative days. Long term follow-up revealed that only one patient developed isolated local recurrence, a rate much lower than usually reported. It is possible that early use of chemotherapy could reduce local recurrences in the recently traumatized tissue.
