Several reports have described the monitoring of blood flow in the middle cerebral artery during carotid endarterectomy by means of transcranial Doppler ~onography'-~. The clinical applications of this method have still to be established'--5. The value of monitoring by transcranial Doppler sonography is demonstrated in a patient who developed signs of restenosis during surgery.
