✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The applications of intraoperative scanning are described in the arterial and pancreatico‐biliary trees. The findings in 85 patients and 10 postmortem specimens are reviewed. Specific scanning techniques are described, and the results are compared with conventional radiological methods and actual operative findings. A critical comparison of both techniques is presented with illustrations of the unique capacities of intraoperative ultrasound, particularly in the pancreas.
