Whexeas iodonium ion-induced intramolecul~x cydization of 3-butenyldiphenylsilanol proceeded via exo mode cyclization to give 5-iodomethyl-2,2-diphenyl-l-oxa-2-silacydopent,~x~e sdectively, iodosilyletherization of 4-methyl-3-pentenyldiphenylsila~ol afforded 6,6-dimethyl-~iodo-2,2-diphenyl-l-oxa-2-silaeydohexane exdusivdy via endo mode cyelization. The oxasilaeycloalkmes wea-e convea'tedinto the corresponding 13-did and 1,4-diol by oxidative deavage of the carbon-silicon bond.
