โœฆ Synopsis


Intracavity Phase Interferometry is applied to the detection of magnetic fields. A magnetic field induced change in index is converted into a beat frequency between two optical pulse trains. Because the detected frequency is not dependent on the pulse train intensities, a signal to noise improvement over standard amplitude measurements (for instance Faraday rotation) of at least a factor 1000 is achieved. The method applies to any magnetic detection method where the magnetic field can be converted into a change in refractive index.
