Abstract
In order to interpret characteristic ribbon‐shaped parallel contrast lines on X‐ray‐topographs of special muscovite single crystals a model of band‐like stacking faults of layer units is proposed. The stacking faults are caused by staggers in the aluminium plane which deviate from the arrangement in the regular 2M~1~‐structure. The unit layer used for it is not identical with the common one (e.g. SMITH, YODER); it corresponds to a proposal by SADANAGA and TAKEDA. The description of the character of these stacking faults is discussed in connection with the experimental statements reported by different authors.
