โฆ Synopsis
The different nucleosynthetic yields in type Ia supernovae lead to variation in the observed properties of those objects. Complementary to extensive numerical simulations of the explosion physics the detailed analysis of well observed objects can provide constraints on the explosion mechanism. Using radiative transfer models for a time series of observed spectra the depth-dependent composition of the ejecta can be traced. Here we present this method as applied to the type Ia supernova SN 2004eo, which was observed by the European Supernova Collaboration. We compare the results to the previously analyzed SN 2002bo.
