This article, in eight parts, examines the application of copyright law in the online context. In particular, the various copyright rights that may be implicated by transmissions and use of works on the Internet are considered, as well as certain limitations on liability for online service providers afforded under federal statutes. The application of those rights to various activities on the Internet is explored, and analysis also includes the application of the fair use doctrine and the implied license doctrine to various activities. In Part VI the author examines inter alia, limitations of liability of online service providers and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
