Der deutschen Ausgabe liegt eine dlinische von G. MANDAHL-BARTH zugrunde, aus der die farbigen Bildtafeln iibernommen wurden, wahrend der Text eine Umarbeitung erfuhr unter besonderer Beriicksichtigung der in der Nordsee vorkommenden Arten, allerdings auch mit Einbeziehung mediterraner Formen. Im Rahmen der gesetzten Grenze -namlich ,,als Hilfe fur den interessierten Laien" -ist das kleine, preiswerte Buch durchaus zu empfehlen, zumal iiber Konstruktion und Biologie der ausgewahlten Arten knapp, aber instruktiv (mit Schema-Zeichnungen) informiert wird.
