✦ Synopsis
The focus is on relationships between characterization on one hand and synthesis, processing, manufacturing and properties on the other, with emphasis on predictions of service performance. All polymer-based materials, including thermoplastics, thermosets, heterogeneous and molecular composites, blends, polymer melts and solutions are considered. Research presentations will be in both oral and poster formats. Topic areas: predictive methods; polymerization; polymer liquid crystals; mechanical properties and performance; dielectric and electrical properties; interfaces; rheology and processing; structure-property relations. At least one Student Paper Prize will be awarded for a presentation in either format. There will be several hands-on tutorials on the use of characterization equipment sponsored by industrial companies and a book exhibition sponsored by publishers. There were participants from 16 countries at the 2nd and from 32 countries at the 3rd Conference.
