✦ Synopsis
A study by the dynamic n.m.r. method has established' that appreciable barriers to internal rotation of the dimethylamino-group around the N-aryl bond exist in para-substituted N.Ndimethylanilines (I), a barrier dependence being found reflecting the contribution of the zwitterionic resonance form (II), where 2 denotes a group capable of strong electron-accepting resonance.

In the title compound, C~17~H~21~NO~2~, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 49.8 (3)°. In the crystal structure, the molecules form layers parallel to the __ac__ plane which are stacked along the __b__ axis and which are stabilized by O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions.
## Abstract The barriers to rotation of the dimethylamino group in a series of 4‐__N__,__N__‐dimethylthiocarbamoylpyrazoles have been determined by the ^1^H n.m.r. technique. For one of the compounds the rate constants have been determined over a temperature interval of 113 degrees by monitoring th
