β¦ Synopsis
CHJCDa torsional overtones have been observed by spontaneous Raman scattering in a laser intracavity apparatus. Au = 2 multiplet transitions up to the sixth torsional level have been measured. The new data were combined with Au = 0 transi@ons from microwave and molecule-beam avoided crossing experiments and with Au = 1 IR measurements. The barrier parameters V3 = 997.72 f 0.32 cm-' and V6 = 8.45 f 0.37 cm-' have been determined.

The microwave torsional-rotational spectra of gauche CH 3 CD 2 OH and CH 3 CD 2 OD have been identified, assigned, and analyzed up to 70 GHz. From the observed a-and c-dipole transitions, it has been possible to determine the effective rotational coefficients and the gauche tunneling energy of the h
We record double resonance spectra of the 4Ξ½ 1 band of jet-cooled 13 C-methanol using single rotational state selection in the Ξ½ 1 fundamental and subsequent promotion of the selected molecules to the fourth vibrational level. We then detect transitions to the final excited states by infrared laser
The Ξ½ 5 fundamental (C-C stretching) of CH 3 CD 3 shows a resolved torsional structure, caused by perturbations due mainly to the linear dependence of the torsional potential barrier on the normal coordinate Q 5 . We were able to analyze this structure and to assign vibration-rotation transition wav
