✦ Synopsis

Ill spectra of CuSO4= 51120 and Its dcutcratcd analoguc have been studied in the internal mode region ofwater at 300 and 110 K. The stretching mode cnvrlopc in the hydrate has II very poor resolution but the correspondmg one in the dcutcratc shows a dctinitc structure. Uncoupled Oll/OD stretching bands have been obtained using isotopic dilution and asmany as scvcn componcnt$ arc idcntiflcd. Thcsc have been attributed to scvc'n out of the eight dlffcrcnt H-bonds known in the crystal. No band has been obscrvcd corresponding to the longest O...O bond.
