Resonances in slow molecular collisions are demonstrated by exact numerical solution of the closecoupled'equations for r&&ion4 excitation. including closed channels. The breakdown of the adiabatic approximation is exhibited. Resonance energies can be essentially predicte-a by a "best local" approximation.
