This self-instructional method for learning an intermediate level of Tamil is designed to follow an elementary level such as "Conversational Tamil." The material in this text concentrates on grammatical constructions not covered in that elementary text, particularly negatives of all kinds; in addition, this text uses the same transcription and the same dialect (Non-Brahmin). The material in this book is arranged in chapters (13-15), each of which is divided into sections. Each section consists of a conversation or portion of a conversation, grammatical explanations and drills. After the completion of a given section, the student should turn to a native-speaking assistant for checking. The materials usually can be completed in a semester of two quarters. Tape recordings to accompany these materials are not yet available for copying.
