Tile book is divided into two parts : Part I deals briefly (32 pp.) with tho principal ~~l~ysiopntl~ological, physicnl, and cheinical properties of the war gases, the relation betwen chemical structure and aggressive action, and a classification of these gases. Part I1 (303 pp.) reviews in detail the principal methods of manufacture of the gases and outlines in most cases schemes for their analysis. The coinpounds arc cirranged for coliveniencc according to their chemical relationship tilid similarity of structure. They coinprise : the halogens ; coinpounds of divalent carbon ; halogcnated ncyl coinpounds, ethers, and esters ; aromatic esters and aldehydes ; halogenated ketones and nitro-compounds ; and cyanogen, sulphur, and arsenic conipounds. Thc volume concludes with an adequate author and subject index.
