A camputatior%l study is made of a Re~ge pole theory of Iargd angle ehstic scattering in chemically reactive systems.

When the transition from a3sorbzncy to transparency is rapid in the S matrix, summation of the partiaJ wave expansion shows the ikggc theory aceumtely predicts oscillations and a backwud glory in the laxge an$e scattering. When the transition is less rapid a new oscillatory effect is pretiicted. It arises from the interference of a surface wave with the diect elastic scattering.
