✦ Synopsis


Transient rates of diffusion through a liquid-liquid interface have been measured using a hamhrar jet. The system isobutanol-w*ater at nominal contact times of 0.05 to 0.5 set exhibits what appears to be a small interfacial resistance of approximately 80 see/cm. Stability of the jet limits the variety of liquid pairs which can be studied. However, the method should prove useful in examining interfacial phenomena which accompany diffusion through the liquidliquid interface. Zusammenfassung-Die Diffusions-gesehwindigkeiten duroh eine Fliissigkeit/Fliissigkeit Grenzfl%ehe wurden nut der Hilfe eines laminaren Strahles gemessen. Das System isobutanol/ Wasser, nut einem nominalen Kontakt von 0,05-0,5 set/cm, zeigt einen anscheinend kleinen Grenzfl%chenwiderstand von unge3ihr 80 set/cm. Die Stabilitiit des Strahles begrenzt die Mannigfaltigkeit der Fliissigkeitspaaren, die untersucht werden k&men. Trotzdem sollte die Methode in Untersuchungen von Grenzl%chen-Erscheinungen die die Diffusion durch die Fliissigkeit/Fliissigiieit Grenzfliiche begleiten, sehr niitzlich angewendet werden.
