✦ Synopsis

butene-1,4-diol, and 2-butyne-1,4-diol were prepared and characterized by XRD, TGA, and IR spectroscopy. Their thermal stability and stability in air were studied by XRD. Intercalates of both hosts with 1,4-butanediol and cis-2-butene-1,4-diol change into relatively stable phases with lower basal spacing during heating. VOPO 4 intercalated with 1,3-butanediol forms a Hen-dricks}Teller disordered structure in a wide temperature range.
