✦ Synopsis

Interatomic force constants of A II B VI and A III B V semiconductors have been calculated using plasma oscillations theory of solids. Two simple equations relating the bond-stretching force constant (a ) and plasmon energy have been proposed. The calculated values of a have been used in calculating the values of bond-bending force constant (b ). Our calculated values of a and b are in excellent agreement with the values reported by different workers.
