Human CD59 is a small membrane-bound glycoprotein that functions as an inhibitor of the membrane-attack complex (MAC) of the complement system by binding the complement proteins C8 and C9. The crystal structure of a soluble construct of CD59 has been determined to 2.1 A resolution. When compared wit
