## Abstract The thermal behavior of a water‐soluble associating polymer system, hydrophobically modified alkali‐soluble emulsion (HASE) polymer, was investigated. This polymer contains a methacrylic acid–ethyl acrylate copolymer backbone with 1 mol % of pendant hydrophobic groups grafted to it. The
