✦ Synopsis
method is described for noncontact 3D object recording which includes surface relief texture. Two range images are used. One is a low resolution full field of view recording which contains enough samples to describe the general shape of the object. The other is a local high-resolution image which resolves the surface relief. From this surface relief measurement, a second-order model of this texture is computed. From this model and a B-spline representation of the general shape, it is possible to save the shape and relief of a real world object in a very compact manner. Experimental results are presented.
