Abstract
When the GPS antenna is mounted inside the instrument panel or dashboard of a vehicle, its passive antenna performance is adversely affected. Free space and vehicle level measurements are performed to understand the extent of degradation. Then, the antenna with a low‐noise amplifier is connected to a GPS receiver, and the number of satellites tracked in a 24‐h period is recorded for system performance. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
