✦ Synopsis
The story of a man’s search for the world he lost.
Amnesia Took His Past — The Mob Stole His Wife.
Getting Them Both Back May Cost Him His Life.
After a horrific car crash, best-selling crime novelist Garth Wainwright has no memory of how he ended up at UCLA Medical Center with a wired jaw, a broken arm, and other serious injuries. In fact, he has no memories at all. Following a month-long hospital stay, he’s released with the clothes he wore on admission, some keys, and a wallet. These are the tools he has to recover his life.
A taxi drops Wainwright off at the address on his driver’s license. One of his keys fits the lock, but as he stands in the kitchen, he feels like a burglar in another man’s home. After an exhaustive search, he finds an honorable discharge from the US Navy, a deed to his condo, and a marriage license. There’s just one problem: he has no clue who his wife is.
Eventually, he learns that his wife, attorney Lacey Kinkaid Wainwright, was with him during the crash but subsequently vanished. Is she dead? Was her body snatched? Was she kidnapped?
The LA Sheriff’s Department says the crash was no accident. Rather, it was a deliberate attempt to murder Wainwright. Logic says the person who tried to kill him is the one who has Lacey. But why? Wainwright’s frantic search for his wife and his lost memories stalls when he discovers evidence of Lacey’s hidden past life—a life that offends him and his sense of morality. Even so, he’s committed to tracking her down and freeing her from whoever’s holding her hostage, no matter the cost.
When Lacey’s captor, the head of a vast crime cartel, is identified, Wainwright launches a perilous international rescue mission with the help of his longtime friend Greg Mulholland of the FBI, Boston DA Investigator Renato Wilson, and an extremely unlikely and deadly ally, whom he must learn to trust in order to save Lacey before it’s too late.
With electrifying action scenes at every turn, author Walter Danley takes readers on a white-knuckle journey in this romantic mystery suspense novel in one man’s quest to regain his memories—and the love of his life.
Garth Wainwright wakes from a car crash coma with no memories of any kind; his name, his profession, his everything. After his hospital release, a taxi delivers him to the address on his driver’s license. While searching this condo, he learns that he has a wife, attorney Lacey Kinkaid Wainwright, who was with him during the crash but subsequently vanished. Is she dead? Was her body snatched? Was she kidnapped?
The LA Sheriff’s deputy said it was attempted murder and kidnapping. When Lacey’s captor, head of a crime cartel, is identified, Wainwright launches a perilous international rescue mission with the help of his longtime friend Greg Mulholland of the FBI, Boston DA Investigator Renato Wilson, and an extremely unlikely and deadly ally, whom he must learn to trust to save Lacey before it’s too late. The Assassin, as he is known to law enforcement agencies world-wide, has saved Wainwright’s life. He seems reasonable and non-threatening—for a paid killer—and is welcomed into the search team.
With electrifying action scenes at every turn, author Walter Danley takes readers on a white-knuckle journey into one man’s quest to regain his memories—and the love of his life.

Review
A provocatively structured and cleverly executed International Crime Mystery novel, it would be easy to summarise Inside Moves with a few commonplace adjectives. Action packed, inventive, bold, every chapter feels crisp and polished, but there's nothing extraneous here as Danley weaves a tale of genuine intrigue. It's easy to read, yet highly immersive, as all notable crime fiction should be with Wainwright's code of honour pushing him through a fog of amnesia toward a truth that will change his perceptions of those closest to him. He's a strong, driven character who wants the truth out, regardless of the consequences and on this level, it's fair to say that Danley employs the conventions of his genre in fine form. His narrative has a flow to it that's natural and involving whilst his prose make Wainwright's story highly visual. In part, this is due to well-observed characterisation and the unscripted feel to his dialogue which comes across as authenticate and unforced and all in all there's more than enough here to sate the most voracious of crime genre appetites.
Highly entertaining from the start with a superbly crafted plot,
Inside Moves: A Wainwright Mystery suggests a mystery crime series that should garner much interest and is strongly recommended. ~ *Bookviral.com *
A fast-paced, if occasionally silly, thriller about memory loss and revenge. Danley is an adept storyteller, and the tale unfurls at a pace that keeps the reader pressing forward -- * Kirkus Reviews *
Danley has ... produced a functional tale that will likely keep his audience intrigued all the way to the end. ... relishes in its own twists and tropes. -- * Kirkus Reviews *

" We're losing him!" an EMT shouts as the ambulance careens down the streets of Santa Barbara carrying Bobby Wainwright, who's fighting for his life. The EMT knows that Bobby's been injured on the job as he inspected a construction site; the novel's ultimate focus isn't on Bobby, but on his brother Garth, who is left with many questions.
Garth and his lawyer wife Lacey leave the funeral determined to search for truth and closure when a jeep drives them off the road and careens Garth and his wife over the edge in Topanga Canyon. Nobody should or could have survived that accident - but a determined sheriff succeeds in rescuing Garth against all odds, and then the real mystery begins as Garth struggles to recover, sans wife and memory, and piece together what happened not only to his brother, but to him.

_ Inside Moves_ joins The Tipping Point in Walter Danley's 'Wainwright Mystery' series, but that doesn't mean that prior familiarity with the first novel is a prerequisite to enjoying this one. Flashbacks neatly put together the prior story of Lacey and Garth's relationship and lives while the central them of Garth's uncertain recovery and his ability to investigate without the tools of even his own memory makes for a gripping story of recovery and determination.
Kidnappings and murder plots, a wife indicted by her actions and damning evidence, and lost memories replaced by new knowledge that one's biggest loves in life are questionable - all these are elements of Inside Moves that keeps readers on their toes and in the grip of an affair that is part relationship and part intrigue.
As motivations on all sides grow murky and Wainwright finds himself tested by his own investigative prowess and what it uncovers, readers who appreciate complex stories of prisoners, jailers, and rescuers will relish the many layers of complexity that come between Garth and Lacey in the aftermath of Bobby's accident.
Tests of sanity, goons with murky intentions and deadly, precisely executed plots, and a husband and wife's separate trials all coalesce in a story that is intriguing and hard to put down. This gripping read is highly recommended for audiences who relish solid characterization, series titles that don't rely on one another for support, and approaches that add to the excitement of the prior book without requiring special knowledge. *D.Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Reviews *
From the Author
I was conflicted about the storyline when I outlined this novel. Since it is the sequel to The Tipping Point, the first book in the A Wainwright Mystery series, much of the story continues from Tipping Poin t. That was the easy part!
As Wainwright seeks to rediscover his memories lost to the amnesia caused car crash he finds some unattractive facts about the wife he also just discovered. In fact, the newlyweds just returned from their honeymoon in Salzburg,as he soon learns, but where is she? Missing from the car crash site, he eventually concludes that she has been kidnapped. But why? And by Who?
The more Wainwright learns about his lost love, the more he is sure that he knew none of this before he married Lacey Ann Kinkaid. His internal conflict is whether to abandon this soiled sister to her kidnappers plans or to find and rescue her in an effort of husbandry duties. The solution is something that most of my readers will not anticipate.
This novel is pivotal in several ways as it sets the stage for Wainwright's future. I made some major choices for Wainwright and Lacey and those that love them. I hope my readers appreciate the significance of those choices. **
