2 , poly(dA)-poly(dT), and poly(dG)-poly(dC) has been observed for Ru II -polypyridyl complexes with a pendant catechol functionality. The Ru II -polypyridyl complexes preferentially bind to more flexible, alternating purine-pyrimidine sequences, particularly those that contain AT.TA steps, with very high affinities (K b > 10 7 m À1 ).
