✦ Synopsis
The inside cover picture shows the design concept behind the antitumor and immunomodulatory phthalimides bio-inspired by thalidomide (top). Their immunosuppressor activity is derived from their ability to maintain low IL-10 production and suppress NO, with the advantage of not affecting the immune response elicited by T-lymphocytes. Phthalimide 2 b (bottom) is as strongly active against solid sarcoma as thalidomide. For more details, see the Communication by A. C. L. Leite et al. on p. 523 ff.
