✦ Synopsis

panel data and a simultaneity model between per-capita income and air pollution to examine empirically the environmental Kuznets curve relationship between per-capita income and air pollution. They confirm such a relationship for NO2 and CO.

An interesting aspect of the book is the combination of both theoretical and empirical analyses of economic growth. It renders the content more convincing in addition to being interesting. The structure of the book, treating three different topics (human capital, trade and public policy) in the form of articles by different authors, enables the reader to get various approaches for one topic which is also a positive aspect. Chapters 2, 4, 9 and 12 are the most original. They develop various growth models and provide a good overview of the growth literature. Except for chapter 4, the main findings of the book are not new. They confirm well-known and admitted results but use different strategies in different set-ups. The content of the book is mostly technical. Consequently, its market seems to be limited to specialists or post-graduate students having a particular interest in the area of growth.
