Ag-sheathed Bi-2223 mono-and multifilamentary superconducting tapes have been obtained from wires produced by the powder-in-tube method. The tapes have been characterized by scanning electron and polarized optical microscopy, together with critical current density (Jc and Jc(B)) measurements. A syst

โฆ Synopsis
The coupling nature of the high-Tc grains in Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O is studied through initial magnetization M(R) on sintered-bulk samples prepared under different sintering time. Flux penetration along the grain boundary occurs at the field much lower than He,. A prolonged sintering improves this a little and strengthens transport current path leading to enhancement of Tc (p=O) . In comparison, the M(R) curve for a Ag-shiethed tape with Jc(77K)~2400A/cm2 (R=O) is presented and the result of He. is discussed.

The (Bi,Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O glass-ceramics may be considered as disordered metal and superconductor. Depending on the heat treatment conditions the materials are either composed of the oval grains of the 2212 or 2201 phases embedded in the insulating matrix or they mainly contain the 2212 plate-like crys
