From Anchusa officinafis L. the new pentacyclic triterpene anchusoside-3 (1) has been isolated. Its structure was elucidated by IR, 'H-NMR, partially relaxed I3C-NMR and mass spectroscopy and by chemical denvatisation. The compound is 21-O-~-~-glucopyranosyl-2a,3~,21~,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid.
