✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The infrared spectra of the n‐membered cyclanes (n = 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) have been investigated over the frequency range 1600 to 650 cm^−1^ at temperatures between − 180° and + 100° C in liquid and solid state and for comparison in solid state pressed in KBr. Furthermore the spectra of the liquids at temperatures about 20° C above the melting points and those of thin crystalline films have been observed in the rocksalt region.

## Abstract Frequency, halfwidth and integrated absorption intensity of the 1700/cm keton band have been measured for 10 ringhomologs in the cyclanone series. In carbon tetrachloride solution a pronounced dependence of halfwidth and absorption intensity on the ring size has been found for the mediu
