InCnred mulIiple-pholon decomposiIion (IRMPD) or Fe(CO), induced by an IR p-H1 Raman laser has been srudied. The decomposirion erficienrly occurs wirh the irmdiaGon of unrocused laser beam BL 616.1 cm-'. The decomposition producls are mainly CO and mekxllic iron. In IRMPD or a mixture or Fc(CO), and 1-butrnc or I-pcn~cnc. isomeriwtion of these olclins hy active inlenncdinles is not observed. The resuhs are explained by Tas1 sequenlial decarbonylmion or Fe(CO)5 in highly excited vibraGonal SLZWZ.
