## Abstract The use of pulsed lasers to induce radical polymerization with a subsequent analysis of the polymer molecular weight distribution (MWD) through size exclusion chromatography (PLP‐SEC method) revolutionized the determination of propagation rate coefficients __k__~p~. In this paper the pr

✦ Synopsis
CFCl has been studied in molecular beams by the IRMPD of CF,CFCl. The excitation spectra of CFCl are characterized by numerous hot bands with well-resolved rotational structure. The vibrational frequencies and the major rotational constants for the ground and excited states were determined. The initial translational energy has an exponential distribution with an average energy of 0.2 1 kcal/mole, which suggests that CFCl was generated by a single bond rupture. Rotational relaxation is efficient with an apparent temperature of 14 K after 14 collisions with Ar. Vibrational relaxation is much less effective with an estimated temperature of 1000 K for v$'
