✦ Synopsis
BSCCO-2223 tapes have been produced by the 'powder-in-tube' method with reproducible critical current densities of > 1 x 104 A cm-2 at 77 K and 5 x 104 A cm-2 at 4.2 K. Superconductivity at 77 K was retained in fields of up to 7 T. The influence of mechanical treatments (e.g. drawing, rolling and pressing) as well as that of different annealing processes has been investigated. In addition to the determination of critical currents, a.c. shielding measurements have been used to verify the quality of intergrain contacts. The temperature dependence ofjc between 4.2 and 80 K has been studied while the field (HIIc; H_L c with HII or J_/) was varied from 0to 8T.
