β¦ Synopsis
In the past, different models were established to explain the causes of adhesive metal transfer. The initiation of adhesive wear is normally described as a function of mechanical loads acting on local asperities. A possible direct influence of local temperatures on the initiation of adhesive wear is still indistinct. This paper focuses on the influence of temperature on the tribological conditions with respect to conventional deep drawing of aluminum-alloys. Here the initiation of adhesive wear is of particular interest. The considered temperature is in the range of room temperature and 100 β’ C, which is typically for cold forming processes. Furthermore, an approach to optimize the tribological conditions in the forming zone by cooling down the sheet is discussed.
