โฆ Synopsis
Application. Fertilizer application is an option for increasing productivity of regrowth eucalypt forests. Where fertilizers are used the quantity and nutrient content of litterfall and accumulating forest floor litter are likely to increase. Thus, disturbance of the litter layer as occurs during burning may affect nutrient cycling and the loss of volatile elements more in fertilized than unfertilized forest. Consideration of factors such as the timing, frequency and intensity of prescribed fires will be important for minimizing these losses.
