✦ Synopsis

A general theory is formulated for the scattering of all wave lengths by anisotropic molecules, correlated in orientation. Different simplifications are then considered, with only a small gain for the X-ray case. From optical scattering data one gets the impression that "paratropic" liquids (tendency to parallel alignment) are the exception and "diatropic" (inverse tendency) the rule.
