Abstract

In this paper, the influence of the ground‐pad dimensions on the electrical performance of the vialess transition from coplanar waveguide (CPW) to microstrip is studied. The simulation and measurement results both show that wider and shorter CPW pads can improve the transition bandwidth. This result can be used as a simple guideline for vialess transition design, and is illustrated by an equivalent‐capacitance model. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
