Abstrsct

-Electrolysis was conducted at 40Β°C, pII 6 and circulation rate of 14 ml/s in two different chlorate cells with graphite electrodes of industrial dimensions. Large ditTerences in the values of mass transfer coe5cient for hypochlorite discharge were observc+l in the two cells in which the circulation patterns were different. The result is explained on the basis ofthe Ibl and Landolt mechanism for anodic chlorate formation in dilute NaCl solutions.
