โœฆ Synopsis

An experiment is described in which the dependence of the Kapitza conductance of copper to He H on the dislocation density near the interface is investigated in the temperature range of 1-2 K. A dependence is found, which has not been reported before, giving support to the dislocation-based theoretical models. The Kapitza conductance for a low-dislocation-density sample is shown to be an order of magnitude below the usual values, and within the range of validity of these theories.

The reproducibility of measurements of the Kapitza conductance between electropolished copper samples and He 4 has been investigated at temperatures between 1.2 and 20 K. It is shown that the results are sensitive to the vacuum treatment to which the sample is subjected. It appears that after leavin
