✦ Synopsis
Calculation of current leads for superconducting devices usually is performed for a specific conductor arrangement and conductor quality foreseen for construction of the lead. Variation of specific conductivity of the conductor offers an additional path for optimizing the lead to specific requirements of a magnet system. The paper describes results of numerical calculations of current leads with copper of different RRR and shows advantages of this change in quality with respect to operation performance. Experimental results compare favourable to values calculated with a soft ware package described shortly. Deviation of analytically based calculation from experiment is discussed.
