Abstract
Strains deficient in recombinational repair (recA^β^) failed to be reverted by MNNG. Caffeine was found to efficiently repress MNNGβinduced reversions with proficient and deficient (uvrB^β^) excision repair strains. The presence of the resistance plasmid pKM 101 had no influence on the effectiveness of caffeine.
